The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the Appropriation Bill for the 2026 financial year. The second reading of the Budget 2026 is scheduled to be presented to Parliament this afternoon by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance. Dollar rate in Sri Lanka today

The Sri Lankan Rupee has depreciated further against the US Dollar at commercial banks in Sri Lanka today (07), compared to Wednesday.  At Seylan Bank, the buying rate of the US Dollar has increased from Rs. 301.20 to Rs. 301.55, while the selling rate has also increased from Rs. 306.45 to Rs. 306.80. Drug arrest : Anuradhapura school principal suspended from service

The Director of Education for the North Central Province has decided to suspend the school principal who was recently arrested with a large quantity of heroin in Anuradhapura.
