President attends JVP’s 36th Il Maha Viru Samaruma in Colombo

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today attended the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna’s (JVP) commemoration ceremony marking the 36th Il Maha Viru Samaruma, the annual ‘Commemoration of November Heroes’ held in honour of those who sacrificed their lives. The event, led by President Dissanayake and JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva, was held this afternoon at the Viharamahadevi Open Air Theatre in Colombo. Over 3400 Sri Lankans departed for jobs in South Korea in 2025 – SLBFE

The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) says a total of 3,469 Sri Lankan youth have departed for employment opportunities in South Korea during the course of 2025. The SLBFE said in a statement that a group of 77 qualified individuals, including 2 women, left for jobs in South Korea’s manufacturing sector on November 11.  These employment opportunities are facilitated under the E-9 visa category, based on a bilateral agreement between the SLBFE and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea. One in five Sri Lankan adults has diabetes – Health authorities

One in every five adults in Sri Lanka is living with diabetes, and one in three of them is at risk of developing eye-related complications, according to Sri Lanka’s health authorities.
