The Mount Lavinia Police have launched an inquiry into the conduct of a lawyer involved in Friday’s (10) incident at the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court premises, where a police officer allegedly assaulted the attorney. Police said the investigation will look into claims that the lawyer, accompanied by another senior attorney, had verbally abused and obstructed the officer while he was carrying out his official duties. Former Presidents Mahinda Rajapaksa and Maithripala Sirisena have requested the return of vehicles previously provided for their security, Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said. The All Ceylon Small and Medium Scale Egg Producers Association has announced a reduction of Rs. 10 in egg prices in the local market. Chairman of the Association, Navod Sampath Bandara, stated that the decision was made to curb the monopoly of large-scale egg producers and to balance demand and supply, as the demand for eggs has recently declined.
