The Mount Lavinia Police have launched an inquiry into the conduct of a lawyer involved in Friday’s (10) incident at the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court premises, where a police officer allegedly assaulted the attorney. Police said the investigation will look into claims that the lawyer, accompanied by another senior attorney, had verbally abused and obstructed the officer while he was carrying out his official duties. The inquiry follows an earlier complaint that the same police officer had assaulted the lawyer while he was attempting to drive his vehicle out of the court premises.
