The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today that a female lawyer and five actresses are under investigation over their links to underworld figure Kehelbaddara Padme. CID officers said attorney Thamara Kumari Abeyrathne, arrested for allegedly assisting the gunman in the Ganemulla Sanjeewa murder, was being detained and questioned. The Overall Rate of Inflation, measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) on a year-on-year basis, has increased to 2.1% in October 2025. According to the Department of Census and Statistics, the figure is an increase compared to the 1.5% recorded in September this year. Food inflation has also increased to 3.5% in October 2025, compared to the 2.9% reported in September. Non-food inflation has also increased to 1.4% in October from the 0.7% reported in September 2025.
