Sri Lanka to Convert Petrol Three-Wheelers into EVs

The government has launched a new programme to convert old fuel-powered three-wheelers into electric vehicles, Minister of Science and Technology Chrishantha Abeysena announced. He said the initiative also explores the possibility of fitting solar panels on the roofs of three-wheelers to improve energy efficiency and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. According to the Minister, converting petrol-powered three-wheelers to electric offers major advantages, allowing existing vehicles to remain in use while eliminating fuel costs.
