The government has launched a new programme to convert old fuel-powered three-wheelers into electric vehicles, Minister of Science and Technology Chrishantha Abeysena announced. He said the initiative also explores the possibility of fitting solar panels on the roofs of three-wheelers to improve energy efficiency and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
