56,870 smuggled prescription drugs seized in Mannar

During a search operation carried out in the early hours of 06 Oct 25, the Sri Lanka Navy apprehended a suspect along with a dinghy and a consignment of 56,870 prescription drugs (capsules and tablets), spices and cosmetics being smuggled, in the Keeri beach area, Mannar. Remaining constantly vigilant, the Navy continues to conduct regular coastal patrols and search operations to prevent illegal activities, including smuggling attempts via sea routes. Kajja worked at Defence Ministry during Thajudeen murder – CID

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has revealed that Anura Vidanagamage, popularly known as Meegasare Kajja,” who was brutally killed along with his two children, had been serving at the Ministry of Defence at the time of the Wasim Thajudeen murder, NewsFirst reported. UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances publishes findings on Sri Lanka

The UN Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED) today issued its findings on Sri Lanka, after reviewing it in its latest session. The findings contain the Committee’s main concerns and recommendations on the implementation of the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance, as well as positive aspects. Industries Ministry enterprises deliver Rs. 757 million boost to Treasury
