Sri Lanka rupee weaker against dollar, bond yields steady

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s rupee closed at 302.80/90 to the US dollar on Tuesday, weaker from 302.59/62 the previous day, while bond yields were broadly steady, dealers said. A bond maturing on 15.12.2026 closed at 8.28/33 percent, down from 8.30/42 percent. A bond maturing on 15.09.2027 closed at 8.70/81 percent, down from 8.70/85 percent. A bond maturing on 01.07.2028 closed at 9.23/28 percent. A bond maturing on 15.12.2029 closed flat at 9.67/71 percent. A bond maturing on 15.12.2032 closed at 10.50/62 percent, from 10.53/62 percent. Cabinet approves ‘Ratama Ekata’ anti-drug operation

Sri Lanka to sign money laundering info MoUs with Vatican State, Mauritius

No link between Cabinet reshuffle and container release probe : Govt

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers has approved a proposal to award the design, development, implementation and maintenance of a revenue administration system for the Excise Department to MillenniumIT ESP and Metropolitan Technologies, minister Nalinda Jayatissa said. “The Procurement Committee recommended the award of the contract to Millennium I.T.E.S.P (pvt) Ltd and Metropolitan Technologies (Pvt) Ltd for 1,310.94 million rupees – tax-free,” Jayatissa told reporters. Cabinet allows Ponni Samba imports

The Cabinet has approved the temporary import of up to 520 metric tonnes of Ponni Samba rice per importer without permits, Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said. The decision comes amid a shortage of Keeri Samba rice in the local market, with vendors reportedly selling it above the government’s control price. Ponni Samba GR 11, considered a close substitute, will be allowed for import to stabilize supply, the Minister said. Lightning advisory : Red alert issued to 09 districts

The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-western provinces and Galle and Matara districts today. Nearly 25% Sri Lankans’ body checked since January this year – Police

A total of 5.7 million persons have been inspected from 01st January to 13th October 2025, Sri Lanka Police said.  Addressing the media today, Police Spokesman ASP F.U.
