UK MPs raise concerns over human rights violations in Balochistan

Court proposes talks to settle cricketers’ tax row

The Court of Appeal today (November 6) proposed that an administrative settlement be explored in the ongoing writ applications filed by Sri Lanka’s national male and female cricketers challenging a tax classification by the Inland Revenue Department. Sri Lanka’s NDB net up 146-pct in Sept 2025 quarter

ECONOMYNEXT – Profits at Sri Lanka’s NDB Bank jumped 146 percent from a year ago to 3,615 million rupees in the September 2025 quarter due to growth in net interest income and fee as well as a sharp decline in bad loans, the interim accounts show. Pilot project to provide locally manufactured school shoes for students

A pilot project has been launched to provide locally manufactured, high-quality school shoes instead of vouchers currently issued to students in schools with fewer than 250 students. The initiative was discussed today at the Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development under the aegis of the subject minister, Sunil Handunneththi.  Under the pilot phase, 145,723 students from 1,266 schools in the Western and Southern Provinces will receive locally made shoes. Drug arrest : 7 days DO for NPP councillor’s husband

The husband of a National Peoples’ Power (NPP) Urban Councillor, arrested in possession of heroin, has been remanded until November 12 for further questioning, as per an order issued by the Thambuttegama Magistrate’s Court.
