A female member of the National People’s Power (NPP) representing the Peliyagoda Urban Council has resigned following the arrest of her husband and son on drug-related charges. The councillor, Disna Niranjala Kumari, who was elected at the last local government election, said she was deeply distressed by the incident and had decided to step down as a personal and ethical decision.
