Four suspects have been arrested for defrauding Rs. 569,610 from an individual under the pretext of purchasing a water motor. According to the Police, the arrested group are the chief suspect and three others who had aided the financial fraud. An investigation had been launched into the fraud following a complaint received by the Wayamba Province Computer Crimes investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department in May last year. The Sri Lanka Navy has recovered 51 floating packages containing a massive stock of illegal drugs off the southern coast, authorities said. The seized packages contained approximately 670 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (ICE), 156 kilograms of heroin, and around 12 kilograms of hashish. The haul, weighing a total of 839 kilograms, was brought ashore at the Tangalle Fisheries Harbour for further investigation, the Navy said.
