CID probing former Police Narcotics Chief’s alleged links to drug transport

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an investigation into allegations that high-ranking former narcotics officers were involved in drug trafficking operations, including the transport of narcotics. Addressing the weekly Cabinet media briefing, Police Media Spokesperson ASP F.U. Wootler confirmed that the inquiry focuses on the former Director of the Police Narcotics Bureau. Sri Lanka seeks consultant for Kelani Valley Railway extension

Adverse weather : Army relocates 39 affected families in Galle

Thirty-nine (39) individuals from nine affected families in the Galle District have been moved to temporary shelters due to the adverse weather conditions experienced in the area. According to the Sri Lanka Army, the affected families are currently sheltered at the Sudarshanaramaya Temple in Piyadigama, Galle, which has been designated as a safety centre. First CCTV related to the Weligama shooting incident

CCTV footage of the suspect involved in the shooting incident that targeted the Chairman of the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha, Lasantha Wickramasekara, in Weligama today, has been released to the media.  SJB member Lasantha Wickramasekara was shot by the suspect while inside the local council’s chamber this morning.  The CCTV footage shows the suspect, wearing a face mask and carrying a helmet, entering the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha. Sri Lanka amends Strategic Development Act to provide tax incentives

Public help sought to find missing 28 yr old man

The Police have sought the assistance of the public to find a man reported missing from Maradana since August 25. Official Police statement on Weligama shooting

Sri Lanka Police says a pistol-type firearm is suspected to have been used in the shooting that targeted the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman today.  According to the Police, the gunman, who had entered the local council, had shot the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman while inside the chamber.
