Government Raises Flood-Relief Home Cleaning Assistance from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000

In line with the directive issued by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, the Ministry of Finance has approved an increase in the assistance granted for cleaning flood-affected houses and property. Accordingly, the support amount has been raised from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 25,000. This decision is intended to accelerate the restoration of normal living conditions for communities impacted by the Ditwah cyclone. Opposition MPs visit Kandy, blame authorities for poor search and rescue response

CMC suspends parking fees until Dec 05

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has announced the suspension of parking fees within the city limits to assist people affected by Cyclone Ditwah.  According to the CMC, on the instruction of the Mayor, a decision has been taken not to collect parking fees from 06.00 pm today (02) until midnight on December 05. Water Level : Kelani River falls from major to minor flood level

The Department of Irrigation has reported a decrease in the water level of the Kelani River, with flood warnings being downgraded from major to minor.  According to the department, a minor flood warning remains in Nagalagam Street, while a flood alert with falling water levels remains for Hanwella.  Despite a major flood warning issued to the Thanthirmale area due to the water level of the Malwathu Oya, the department reports a decrease in water levels.  Flood alerts have also been issued to the Patupaula and Millakanda areas, but the water levels of the Kalu Ganga are reportedly receding. GCE A/L exam & School opening days : New announcement

The Ministry of Education has announced that the 2025 GCE Advanced Level Examination has been postponed to January 2026. The Education Ministry said the remaining subjects of the examination, which were affected due to Cyclone Ditwah, will be held at the beginning of January next year. Not paying bills : No disconnections in flood-hit areas, says CEB

The General Manager of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB), Shirley Kumara, stated that electricity supply to households in disaster‑affected areas will not be disconnected. He emphasized that the CEB will not carry out disconnections in these areas due to unpaid bills, and that the relevant charges will instead be added to future billing cycles. Opposition MP urges talks with India over Pakistan relief flight clearance for Sri Lanka
