Sri Lanka embarkation levies net Rs26.8bn, up 39-pct as foreign travel rise

Police clarify Elpitiya incident was not a shooting

Police Headquarters says the incident reported last night (04) from a house in the Ihala Omaththa area within the Elpitiya Police Division was not a shooting. Investigations have revealed that the damage was caused by an improvised device made using items such as a metal pipe, gunpowder, and stones, similar to a homemade firecracker. The Police Media Division said the Elpitiya Crime Scene Investigation Officers (SOCO) who examined the site confirmed the damage was not caused by gunfire.
