ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has earned 26 billion rupees from an embarkation levy on those travelling abroad up to June 2025, up from 19 billion rupees last year, as local and foreign international travel increased. Sri Lankans travelling abroad has increased as incomes recovered gradually from the collapse of the rupee from rate cuts and inflationary open market operations by macroeconomists to boost ‘potential output’.
