Israel jobs : Manusha records statement at Bribery Commission

Former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara has appeared before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption today to provide a statement. Nanayakkara was summoned to provide a statement in connection with an ongoing investigation by the Bribery Commission into alleged irregularities during the previous government’s program to send workers to Israel for agricultural employment. A request filed by Nanayakkara before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court, seeking release on anticipatory bail in the event of an arrest by the Bribery Commission, was dismissed yesterday. Lawyer Gunaratne Wanninayake files writ petition to prevent arrest

Online advertisement : Four arrested for defrauding over Rs. 500,000

Four suspects have been arrested for defrauding Rs. 569,610 from an individual under the pretext of purchasing a water motor.  According to the Police, the arrested group are the chief suspect and three others who had aided the financial fraud. 51 floating parcels with 839 kg of drugs seized off southern waters

The Sri Lanka Navy has recovered 51 floating packages containing a massive stock of illegal drugs off the southern coast, authorities said. The seized packages contained approximately 670 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (ICE), 156 kilograms of heroin, and around 12 kilograms of hashish. The haul, weighing a total of 839 kilograms, was brought ashore at the Tangalle Fisheries Harbour for further investigation, the Navy said. Police and Navy teams are conducting a joint probe to determine the origin of the consignment. The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to make it mandatory for all government institutions to procure only brown sugar in their food purchases, as part of efforts to support Sri Lanka’s local sugar industry. 70% of casino users now online in SL – No tax system in place yet, COPF reveals

The Finance Ministry and the Department of Inland Revenue have agreed to implement the Public Finance Committee’s recommendation to establish a Gambling Regulatory Authority by June 30, 2026, to formally regulate the casino industry in Sri Lanka.
