Wind turbine blade transport truck overturns near Trinco Port

  A prime mover transporting a wind turbine blade for the Mannar wind power project overturned this afternoon (Nov. 2) near the outer gate of the Trincomalee China Bay Port. Police said the truck, which had been carrying the massive blade from the port to Mannar, veered off the road and toppled, causing damage to a nearby Buddhist shrine and a storage building within the port premises. 31 arrested in Colombo Musical Event

Police have arrested 31 youths, including both men and women, in possession of narcotics during a musical show held at Kimbulawala, Mirihana, last night. According to police, the arrests were made during a special operation conducted by the Mirihana Police and the Mirihana Divisional Crime Investigation Unit at the “Kamatha” grounds where the concert took place. Over 500 people had attended the event. Police said various types of narcotic substances were found in the possession of the suspects. Rs. 5 bn narcotic boat: owner arrested, detained for seven days

Police said a seven-day detention order has been obtained to further question the owner of the multi-day fishing trawler who was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.
