NPP MP files Police complaint over drug-linked social media claims

Six arrested in Kirinda with over 300kg of narcotics

Six individuals have been arrested in the Kirinda area in connection with a large-scale drug bust, the Police confirmed. Acting on a tip-off, the operation was carried out jointly by the Western Province North Crimes Division and a Southern Province Police team. Sri Lanka rupee weaker, bond yields flat

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s rupee opened at 304.50/60 to the US dollar in the spot market Wednesday from 304.20/35 the previous day, dealers said, while bond yields were steady. A bond maturing on 01.05.2028 was quoted at 8.88/93 percent. A bond maturing on 15.12.2029 was quoted at 9.40/43 percent. A bond maturing on 01.07.2030 was quoted at 9.65/69 percent. Afternoon showers expected in several areas today

Showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 pm today, according to the Department of Meteorology.
