The United National Party (UNP) has created a new senior position titled Deputy Secretary General of Political Mobilization, effective immediately. Former Minister Harin Fernando has been appointed to the post. His main responsibility will be to unite political parties across Sri Lanka and coordinate a common program of action, according to party sources. In addition, Fernando will oversee the organization of more than 1,000 meetings and rallies planned by the UNP as part of its new political mobilization drive.
