Sri Lanka Met Dep warns of impending Northeast monsoon

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka, which is recovering from Cyclone Ditwah, should brace itself for the Northeast monsoon from December 4, the country’s Department of Meteorology has warned. “Rainy conditions over the island, particularly in the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva and Central provinces is expected to be enhanced from 04th of December,” the Duty meteorologist, said in a special weather bulletin. “The general public are requested to be attentive to the future forecasts and bulletins issued by the Department of Meteorology in this regards,” it said urging people to “PLEASE BE AWARE!” Cyclone Ditwah, which killed over 400 people, only moved…
