Severe lightning advisory issued for several areas

Severe lightning and thundershowers are expected in the Eastern, Uva, and Central provinces, as well as in Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts until 11:00 p.m. on 11 October 2025, the Department of Meteorology has warned. The department said there may also be temporary, localized strong winds during the storms. The public is urged to take precautions to minimize damage, including seeking indoor shelter, avoiding open areas and vehicles, staying away from wired telephones and electrical appliances, and being cautious of fallen trees and power lines.
