A passenger bus toppled near the Jaya Ganga area in Thalawa, Thambuththegama, early this morning, leaving at least 20 people injured, including several Advanced Level students. Police said the injured were rushed to the Thambuththegama Hospital for treatment, while rescue operations were carried out with the assistance of area residents and emergency services. The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning for the Uva province and Ampara, Batticaloa, and Hambantota districts, effective until 11.30 pm today. Three workers, including two Sri Lankans, have been found dead at a land-based fish farm in Goseong, South Gyeongsang Province, in South Korea, prompting a police investigation, South Korean media, The Chosun Daily reported. The Central Bank of Sri Lanka reported that the country’s official reserve assets stood at USD 6,216 million at the end of October 2025, marking a slight decline of 0.4% compared to USD 6,244 million recorded at the end of September 2025.
