More than 500 newly qualified Sri Lankan attorneys have been trained in trial advocacy and criminal law best practices through a program conducted by the United States Department of Justice at the Bar Association of Sri Lanka. The U.S. Embassy in Colombo said the program focused on continuing legal education for new attorneys and was carried out under the Department of Justice’s Office of Overseas Prosecutorial Development, Assistance and Training (OPDAT).
