A Navy search operation off Arichchal in Kalpitiya on Wednesday has led to the arrest of two suspects attempting to smuggle more than 4 kilograms of gold by sea. Acting on information received by the Northwestern Naval Command, SLNS Vijaya intercepted a suspicious dinghy in the area. A search of the vessel uncovered 4.45 kilograms of gold disguised as 13 fishing net sinkers, the Navy said in a statement.
