The Department of Meteorology says an increase in rainfall is expected after the 21st of October due to a disturbance developing over the Bay of Bengal. Director General Athula Karunanayake said the atmospheric disturbance currently positioned to the southeast of Sri Lanka is likely to develop into a low-pressure area, leading to enhanced showers across most parts of the island. Although the system will not directly affect Sri Lanka, the country will experience intensified rainfall, he added.
