The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber Advisory for heavy rain affecting the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Central, Uva, and North-Western provinces, valid until 8:30 a.m. on October 16. According to the advisory issued at 3:00 p.m. today (15) by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (where winds from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres converge) and current atmospheric disturbances near the island are influencing Sri Lanka’s weather conditions.
