The European Union has allocated up to 1.8 million euros (around LKR 640 million) to support relief efforts in Sri Lanka following the recent floods. This includes 500,000 euros channelled through the Disaster Response Emergency Fund of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to provide urgent shelter, food and other essential assistance. Alongside financial support, the EU is sending in-kind relief through its Civil Protection Mechanism.
