Sri Lanka dairy farmers to get up to Rs2m for cyclone hit cattle

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka will pay cattle farmers up to two million rupees for cross-bred animals that were lost in the Cyclone Ditwah, and lesser amount for other cattle, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said. “If someone lost a cross-bred cow, we will give them 200,000 rupees,” President Dissanayake told parliament, seeking approval to spend 500 billion rupees extra for cyclone relief in 2026. “We will give up to two million rupees for 10 cows. ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s rice farmers will be compensated for their pain of mind beyond the actual financial loss suffered by them due to Cyclone Ditwah President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.
