A bomb threat reported via email to the Nawalapitiya–Pasbage Korale Divisional Secretariat triggered an emergency security operation on Monday, but authorities later confirmed the threat was false. Four Sri Lankan passengers were arrested today (29 Dec) by officers of the Katunayake Airport Police Narcotics Division while attempting to smuggle a stock of Kush drugs valued at Rs. 268.4 million out of the airport. The narcotics stock in their possession was also taken into custody by the officers, it was reported. Investigations revealed that the suspects had purchased the drugs in Bangkok, Thailand, transported them to Mumbai, India, and then brought them to Katunayake Airport.
