Water Supply Restored After Repairs to Ambatale Pipeline

Water supply has been fully restored following the completion of repairs to the main transmission pipeline from Ambatale, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board said. The disruption was caused by a sudden breakdown in the Ambatale main pipeline, which had affected several areas in and around Colombo. The NWSDB said repair work was completed and the distribution system has now returned to normal operations. Consumers were earlier advised to use water sparingly during the repair period. Water cut in several areas: Update on restoration work

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) says that the disrupted water supply to several areas, including Dehiwala and Mount Lavinia, is expected to be restored by around midnight today. NWSDB Chairman Chandana Bandara said repair work is currently underway on the damaged pipeline, which is reported to be around 60 years old. The interruption occurred after a water pipeline on the main supply line from Ambatale to Dehiwala burst last night in the Battaramulla–Koswatta Pipe Road area. Coach summoned to police over alleged substandard landing mats exposure

An athletics coach was summoned to the Cinnamon Gardens Police on Friday (02) to record a statement over his exposure of an alleged purchase of low-quality high jump landing mats by the Ministry of Sports.
