A Saudi national who is alleged to have assaulted and injured a flight attendant aboard a SriLankan Airlines aircraft has been sentenced to three months in prison after admitting guilt in court. However, Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today (03) suspended the sentence for five years. The suspect was charged by airport police with three counts, including assault causing injury and intimidation. In addition to the prison sentence, a fine of Rs. 10,000 was imposed.
