Showers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of Sri Lanka after 1.00 pm today, according to the Department of Meteorology. Fairly heavy falls of above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Uva, Southern, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts. The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
