A police officer was injured in an accidental shooting at the Ambalangoda Police Station Wednesday afternoon. According to Ada Derana, the constable, who was reporting for duty, was checking his firearm when it discharged, striking him in the leg, police said. He was taken to Balapitiya Base Hospital for treatment and was in stable condition. The incident is under investigation.
