Medical Lab raided for Reusing Blood Collection Tubes

Sri Lanka’s Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has carried out a raid on a private medical laboratory in Laggala after uncovering serious violations that posed a risk to patient safety. The raid was conducted by CAA investigation officers following information received regarding unsafe practices at the facility. During the inspection, officers discovered that blood collection tubes meant for single use were being washed and reused on multiple patients.
