The Department of Irrigation reports that the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours ending at 08.30 am today has been reported in the Weraganthota area, recording 279.6 mm of rainfall. The Department has issued a flood warning to the area due to a rise in the water level of the Mahaweli River. Over 200 mm of rain has also been recorded in the Manampitiya, Thaldena, Yaka Wewa, and Thanthrimale areas during this period.
