Minister of Health Nalinda Jayatissa says plans and actions are already underway to expand the 1990 Suwa Seriya ambulance fleet to 500 vehicles, incorporating the latest global technologies to modernize the service. Minister Jayatissa further stated that discussions are ongoing with the Indian government to acquire 100 additional ambulances. He further said that, in addition, 20 ambulances are expected to be received under a loan facility from the Asian Development Bank, and another 25 as direct donations.
