Rain expected in several areas today

Atmospheric conditions are becoming favourable for evening thundershowers in most parts of Sri Lanka, according to the Department of Meteorology. As such, several spells of showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-western provinces and in the Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya and Galle districts today.  Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in other areas after 2.00 pm.  The general public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
