The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal by the Minister of Transport, Highways, and Urban Development to complete the renovation of the remaining section of the Maharagama–Piliyandala road using government funds. The project involves the renovation and upgrading of the road section between the 2+000 km and 3+700 km marks. It is a part of a broader project financed through a US$ 50 million loan agreement with the OPEC Fund for International Development, which was aimed at upgrading 46 km of national roads in the Colombo District, the government said.
