A prime mover transporting a wind turbine blade for the Mannar wind power project overturned this afternoon (Nov. 2) near the outer gate of the Trincomalee China Bay Port. Police said the truck, which had been carrying the massive blade from the port to Mannar, veered off the road and toppled, causing damage to a nearby Buddhist shrine and a storage building within the port premises. The driver and his assistant sustained minor injuries and were admitted for treatment. Authorities are investigating the incident, which caused temporary traffic congestion near the port entrance.
