The Sri Lanka Navy has seized a multi-day fishing vessel carrying 53.134 kilograms of heroin in the southern seas and brought it to the Galle Harbour this morning (17). According to Navy Spokesman Captain Gayan Wickramasuriya, the vessel had been intercepted on suspicion of transporting a large quantity of narcotics. A subsequent inspection uncovered 53.134 kilograms of heroin concealed onboard. Five individuals onboard the vessel have been taken into naval custody for further questioning.
