A 56-year-old man has died after a toilet pit exploded at his residence in Pilana, Nagashandiya, within the Habaraduwa Police Division. Police said the incident occurred last evening (12) when the victim reportedly attempted to extract gas from the pit by adding carbide. The pit exploded during the process, causing severe injuries. Residents rushed the man to the Galle National Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on admission. The deceased has been identified as a resident of Pilana, Wanchawala.
