Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya informed Parliament that the newest addition to Sri Lanka’s independent commissions is the National Women’s Commission. PM Amarasuriya said that members were appointed to the commission two to three weeks ago, and that its establishment has now been finalized. She further said that this is in addition to the 09 independent commissions already established under the government.
