The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the North-Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces and Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Matale districts. According to the advisory, effective until 11.00 pm today, red alerts have been issued to 10 districts and amber alerts to 15 districts. The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning activity.
