The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for severe lightning in the Northern, North-central, Central, Eastern, and Uva provinces today. Per the weather advisory, effective until 11.00 pm, red alerts have been issued to 15 districts, and amber alerts to 10 districts. The public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by lightning activity.
