A 65-year-old man from Akmeemana has been sentenced to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually abusing a 1-year-and-8-month-old girl. The Galle High Court handed down the sentence after the convict was found guilty on two charges. The first charge carried a three-year sentence, while the second resulted in 12 years of rigorous imprisonment.
