The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for warm weather for the North-central and Eastern provinces and Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Monaragala districts. According to the department, amber alerts have been issued to 08 districts, effective tomorrow (01 Oct). The department states that the Heat index, the temperature felt on the human body, is likely to increase up to ‘Caution level’ at some places in the districts. The public has been warned that fatigue is possible with prolonged exposure and activity, and that continuing activity could result in heat cramps.
